VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF PRINCIPAL

The Governing Council of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of PRINCIPAL at the College, which will be vacant from Sunday, 1st November, 2026.

THE COLLEGE

Kibi Presbyterian College of Education was established in 1963. It is one of the five renowned teacher education institutions established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. It is a public teacher educational institution located at Kibi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast under the new policy on Teacher Education reform in Ghana.

THE POSITION

The Principal is the academic and executive head and chief disciplinary officer of the College. He/she is responsible in accordance with the Statutes and with decisions of the Council and the Academic Board for organizing and conducting the academic, financial and administrative business of the College.

The Principal advises the Governing Council and the Academic Board on all matters affecting policy, finance and administration of the College. He/she provides strategic leadership, vision and innovation to the College.

His/her responsibilities include the promotion of efficiency, order and institutional advancement and ensuring compliance with standards set by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Affiliate University, as well as fostering internal and external relations, including local and international partnerships, resource mobilization and securing internally generated funds (IGF).

MODE OF APPLICATION

Interested applicants must submit eight (8) hard copies of their application package, which must include:

a. A formal application letter addressed to the Chairman of the Search Committee.

b. An updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) with supporting certificates and other relevant documents.

c. A written Statement of Vision for the college (not exceeding 1200 words) outlining how the applicant intends to achieve the mandate of the college within the four-year term.

d. Three (3) referees’ reports from persons who are well acquainted with the applicant’s academic and professional capabilities.

THE PERSON

The applicant must:

a. Possess a Doctor of Philosophy PHD degree or an equivalent Terminal Degree in a relevant discipline.

b. Be of the rank of at least Associate Professor.

c. Be a distinguished master, teacher and scholar in Teaching and Learning with a track record of teaching, research and publication.

d. Have a good understanding of the challenges facing the College of Education, in particular, and in tertiary education, in general in Ghana.

e. Be a professional teacher or possess a minimum of a Diploma in Education or education-related area.

f. Have at least ten (10) years of teaching experience in a tertiary education with proven administrative, management and leadership experience (e.g., having served as Head of Department, Director, Dean, Vice Principal or Principal).

g. Be visionary and be able to present a compelling vision to drive the College as a tertiary institution.

h. Have good character and a high degree of personal integrity, be circumspect and above reproach.

i. Have the capacity to network and raise funds for the College.

j. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

STATUTORY AGE LIMIT AND TENURE

a. Age Limit: The successful candidate should be able to serve a full term of four (4) years before attaining the compulsory retirement age of 60 years, in accordance with Article 199 (1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

b. Tenure of Office: The appointment shall be for four (4) years and may be renewed for another term of four (4) years only provided the full term of four (4) years would be served before the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60) years or part thereof.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE/INCENTIVES

Salary and fringe benefits are attractive and shall be in accordance with the approved Conditions of Service.
