Attendance at Lectures

The College places significant emphasis on students’ exposure to course content and the valuable interaction between lecturers and students in the classroom. As a result, students are expected to attend all lectures, seminars, and practical sessions stipulated in the course curriculum.

Failure to meet the minimum attendance requirement, specified by the College for any course in a semester, will be considered inadequate participation in the learning process. Consequently, students failing to meet this criterion may face the following repercussions:

  1. Students not meeting the minimum attendance criteria may be deemed to have withdrawn from the course for that semester.
  2. Consequently, such students will not be allowed to sit for the end-of-semester examinations for the respective course.
  3. This absence from examinations may lead to the student not receiving a grade or credit for the course during that semester.

Progression from Level 100 to 200

To advance to Level 200, a student must achieve a minimum CGPA of 1.0. Any Level 100 student who doesn’t pass up to three (3) courses at the semester’s end will need to retake those courses at the beginning of the following semester.

For Level 100 students, failing in more than three (3) courses by the conclusion of the first semester exams will result in complete withdrawal from the college. These students will have the chance to reapply for admission.

According to the Academic Rules and Regulations of the University of Cape Coast, a Level 100 student failing in more than three (3) courses at the first semester exams will be entirely withdrawn from the university and can reapply afterward.

Level 100 students failing in three (3) courses at the end of the academic year will be allowed to retake these courses before the start of the next academic year.

However, any Level 100 student who retakes failed course(s) and subsequently fails in more than two (2) of the re-sit courses will be completely withdrawn from the university. They will then have the opportunity to reapply for admission

Progression from Level 200 to 400

a) To advance from Level 200 to Level 300 and subsequently from Level 300 to Level 400, a Level 200/300 student must have achieved a minimum CGPA of 1.0.

b) A student failing up to three (3) courses in the end-of-first-semester exams will be eligible for re-sitting.

c) Following re-sit examinations, a student is not permitted to have failed in more than three (3) courses by the end of the academic year.

d) If a student fails in more than three (3) courses at the conclusion of the academic year, they will not have the opportunity to re-sit but will instead need to repeat the courses or may be placed on academic probation. The student is expected to demonstrate improvement before progressing further.
